Wellness Committee’s: Bite’s of Balance- Star Fruit

Welcome to a new edition of Bites of Balance!

Each month, the Wellness Committee shares a fruit or veggie recipe inspired by the Florida Department of Agriculture’s seasonal produce guide. Adding more produce boosts vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants—supporting digestion, heart health, and immunity. This isn’t about dieting or changing how you eat; it’s about simple ways to nourish our bodies—one bite at a time.

This month’s spotlight: Star Fruit (Carambola)

Bright, crisp, and naturally star-shaped when sliced, star fruit is a Florida favorite—refreshing on its own and delicious in both sweet and savory dishes. It’s a great source of vitamin C and fiber, with a lightly sweet-tart flavor that shines in salads, salsas, and smoothies.

Fun fact: Slice it crosswise to reveal perfect star shapes—no fancy knife skills required!
