Several members of the Royal American team recently had the opportunity to attend the Southeastern Affordable Housing Management Association (SAHMA) Affordable Housing Conference, and it was an experience filled with both learning and connection.
SAHMA hosts annual conferences across the region, bringing together affordable housing professionals to stay informed on the latest industry updates, regulations, and best practices. With sessions tailored to a wide range of roles, including HUD, LIHTC, public housing, service coordination, maintenance, and professional development, our team gained valuable insights they can bring back to their communities.
Beyond the sessions, the conference also provided a great opportunity to collaborate with peers, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections within the affordable housing industry.

Congratulations to Shuntanya Harris on her promotion to Regional Manager!
With over nine years of progressive experience in multifamily housing, Shuntanya has built a strong foundation in property operations, resident relations, and financial performance. She began her career as a Community Manager and, through consistent results and strong leadership, was promoted to Area Manager, where she successfully oversaw multiple communities and drove operational excellence across diverse portfolios.
Shuntanya’s experience includes leading a successful lease-up, optimizing occupancy, and stabilizing the asset within targeted timelines. She has managed a variety of communities, including LIHTC, RD, and HOME-funded properties, bringing both expertise and adaptability to every role. As a Certified Training Mentor (CTM), she is passionate about developing talent and fostering high-performing teams.
Outside of work, Shuntanya has a passion for culinary arts and completed a culinary and pastry program, where she developed advanced baking techniques and a creative appreciation for food presentation. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, often bringing people together through shared meals and memorable experiences in the kitchen.
