Milestone Anniversary; Celebrating Steve Summerbell

At Royal American, we are fortunate enough to have employees with tenure extending 20 years and beyond. Their knowledge and expertise are pivotal in the success and growth of our company all the while staying tied to the deep roots it was founded on. It is our honor to interview these amazing employees and hear their stories. We are excited to share with you.

Our first milestone anniversary interview to share with you is with Steve Summerbell; Vice President of Royal American Construction/Royal American Containers/Southern Coastal Homes.

What position did you start out in at Royal American?

Estimator/Purchaser

Would you tell us a little bit about your career journey with Royal American?

I was hired in 2003 as an Estimator/Purchaser for Construction. I had a manufacturing background, but the construction world was new to me. I continued to learn from the RAC team and eventually worked my way to Lead Estimator. Over the years I continued to gain knowledge and became a Project Manager, and then got promoted to Vice President a few years back.

Can you share a favorite memory from your time with Royal American?

Royal American has given me the opportunity to get my Florida General Contractors license and Florida Underground Utility Contractors license. One of the project highlights is the reconstruction of Harrison Ave in Downtown Panama City.

What are a few of your interests outside of Royal American?

I enjoy golfing, boating, hunting, and being outdoors. Most of all, I love spending time with my family, especially my first grandchild.

What advice would you give to someone just getting started?

I would tell them to keep an open mind, listen, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and work hard.

A big Congratulations to Steve Summerbell; Vice President of Royal American Construction/Royal American Containers/Southern Coastal Homes, on your exceptional 20 year tenure with RA! Thank you for taking the time to share with us.
