CELEBRATING WOMENS HISTORY MONTH WITH BRENDA PINNER

My career journey began 7/9/1990 as the assistant manager at College Arms.

I started with no experience at all in property management, and really didn’t have a clue what it was. Carolyn Whitehead trained me, and I believe she had a plan in place when she hired me. 1998 she decided to retire and informed me I was going to be the manager. She knew I could do it and she was right.

Somewhere along the timeline I was asked by upper management if I would be interested in being an area manager.  It is a position I really looked forward to doing. I love the travel and helping others in need and giving support to them. In 2023 the positions of compliance came up and I really looked forward to applying for the job, but instead another job of interest came along, Operational Specialist.  This job has been the best.  I can say if this job had been available earlier in my career I would have applied immediately. I left College Arms November, 2023 after servicing the property for 33 years.

The most notable shifts we’ve seen in our company are deeply connected to the empowerment of women. In the beginning, corporate leadership was predominantly male. Yet, Royal American has welcomed the changing dynamics, recognizing women’s leadership contributions in all areas of the company. Beyond this, we’ve enacted several positive changes that have enhanced both the company’s operations and the well-being of our team members. My belief has always been firm: our company is steadily moving forward in a positive direction, thanks to the collective efforts of our corporate staff and our diligent site-level teams.

Brenda has been very instrumental in making me the Community Manager that I am today. Having been a big part of bringing me into the RAM family, she has gone above and beyond to see that I’ve received excellent training in how to do my job, as my previous Area Manager. She is a very dear friend and well deserving of the position that she holds in the company today. She gives of her time and knowledge without hesitation. Go Brenda!
