National Excellence Award for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We are proud to share that we received the 2026 National Apartment Association (NAA) Excellence Award for Leading Organization in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. The award was presented during the NAA Excellence Awards Ceremony at Apartmentalize 2026 in New Orleans.

Royal American earned the recognition for its Advancement, Culture & Engagement (ACE) initiative, which integrates diversity, equity, and inclusion into talent development, workplace culture, leadership, and community engagement. The national award recognizes our resident initiatives, including Rising Apartment Management Professionals (RAMP), which provides free training, mentoring, paid internships, and employment opportunities in the property management industry, as well as employee development programs including Pathway to Career Development and Pathway to Leadership Excellence. We were also recognized for our inclusive workplace policies and employee engagement initiatives that create opportunities for associates and residents alike.

This national recognition is a meaningful reminder of our ongoing commitment to creating opportunities, embracing diverse perspectives, and building communities where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

NAA DE&I Awareness Week is Almost Here!

It’s time for NAA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Awareness Week! NAA has planned five days of learning to help you grow as a DE&I advocate and policy leader, both in the workplace and your community.

Starting on Monday, October 20, each day will feature an expert-led session that builds on the previous day’s lessons. These webinars will explore key DE&I topics and provide strategies to support an inclusive environment in the rental housing industry. RAMP Miami Update

 

On December 6, RAMP Miami participants gathered at Seven on Seventh, Fort Lauderdale, to launch Phase 3 of the RAMP (Rising Apartment Management Professionals) program, a four-phase training initiative preparing residents for property management careers.

In Phase 3, participants, now temporary RAM employees, will engage in onsite job shadowing and internships, gaining hands-on experience as leasing agents and assistant managers.

Event Highlights:

  • Welcome: Lori Agudo and Corey Brooks (RAM Training) introduced Phase 3 and previewed Phase 4, a two-day Property Management class.
  • Onboarding: Chrissy Maulbeck (RAM HR) prepared participants for internships and reflected on lessons from Phase 2.
  • Internship Overview: Ashley Bejarano and Sonya Knight (ACE Committee) detailed job shadowing expectations.
  • Guest Speaker: Sean Hanks (Community Manager) provided real-world insights into site team operations.

Congratulations to participants on reaching this milestone, and thanks to South Florida onsite teams for their support. We look forward to the program’s continued success!

For National Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to spotlight the incredible cultures and traditions that make our communities so special. Today, we’re thrilled to feature Nayelis Garrido, one of our amazing administrative assistants, and the delicious Dominican dish she shared—Pica Pollo (fried chicken) with Tostones (fried plantains)!

For Nayelis, Pica Pollo isn’t just a popular meal in the Dominican Republic—it’s filled with memories of her childhood.
