On August 21st, we observed National Senior Citizen Day at Enclave at Lake Pointe, a day dedicated to honoring and appreciating our wonderful residents. It was a special occasion that allowed us to celebrate their memories, wisdom, and the unique experiences they’ve shared with us.

The event was filled with joy as live music played, delicious lunches were served, and each resident received a personalized gift to take home. Beyond the festivities, it was a day to foster meaningful conversations, create a strong sense of belonging, and ensure that every resident felt truly valued.

This celebration was a true team effort, with contributions from every staff member and even some of our residents, making the day an unforgettable experience for all.

Imagine an apartment complex that saves you money on utilities, offers a healthier living environment, and even reduces your impact on the planet. That’s the promise of National Green Building Standards (NGBS) which defines green building for single and multifamily homes, residential remodeling, and site development projects. Green building practices aren’t exactly breaking news, but our development and construction teams have been champions of sustainability in the affordable multifamily sector for nearly a decade!

So what is NGBS? It is a comprehensive rating system for sustainable construction. It goes beyond just energy efficiency, encompassing six key areas:

  • Energy Efficiency: Think proper insulation, high-performance windows, and efficient appliances – all leading to lower utility bills for residents.
  • Water Efficiency: Low-flow faucets and showerheads, as well as water-saving landscaping, mean less water waste and potentially lower water costs.
  • Resource Efficiency: NGBS encourages using recycled materials and minimizing construction waste, making the building process more eco-friendly.
  • Lot Development & Site Design: This promotes walkable communities with easy access to amenities, reducing reliance on cars.
  • Building Operation & Maintenance: Clear guidelines ensure the building continues to function efficiently over time.
  • Indoor Environmental Quality: Proper ventilation, use of low-VOC paints, and other measures create a healthier living space for residents.

By incorporating NGBS, our development (RAD), construction (RAC), and management (RAM) teams create communities that are not only good for residents’ wallets and health, but also for the environment. National Green Building Standards offer a win-win for affordability and sustainability, paving the way for a greener future for all.
