We know since our postings spreading the awesome news of the 2019 award winners the excitement for the property of the year award winner has been looming in everyone’s mind. WHO IS THE WINNER YOU ARE ALL THINKING??

We are delighted to announce that The Property of the Year for 2019 is Nantahala Village Apartments!

Being nominated for ‘Property of the Year’ is a very high achievement as it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. It also involves a rigorous process to make it all the way to the top of the list.

  • Must have a physical occupancy that averages 96% or better for the entire year
  • NOI that is higher than the previous year and exceeds the annual budget expectations
  • Any and all inspections whether internally or externally must be above average and the attitude of the staff must be exemplary
  • Must maintain a low delinquency and low turnover

Each year, Regional Managers send a list of the properties in their portfolio who meet the above criteria to their Regional Vice President. Meeting the numbers is the starting point. Once receiving a list of the sites that have met the numerical criteria, then RVP’s begin to compare other aspects such as improvement, teamwork, overall attitude, and much more to come up with front runners for each region. Once each region’s representative is chosen, the winners move into the last phase of determining a winner. Kimberly Maggard, Senior Vice President of Operations comes together with Kerri Toth, President of Operations and Denise Ost, Executive Vice President of Operations and the three discuss at length the sites offered up for each region and after much deliberation, a winner is selected.

Our Winners:

The incredible staff at Nantahala Village includes

  • Community Manager, Angie Brock
  • Leasing Consultant, Tanya Varela
  • Maintenance Supervisor, Jeff Hamler
  • Maintenance Technician, Chris Winchell

We could not imagine simply handing this award over to the staff or presenting it like any other, it’s a pretty big deal you know. This year, although we were limited with restrictions from COVID-19, Regional Manager Angie Dickerson had asked the team at Nantahala to make plans for a staff lunch. The Regional Manager and awesome staff jumped in the car and headed to lunch where they were greeted by the Regional Vice President Jeanne Hatten.

We were able to present the awards that the property received for 2019 as well as the surprise Property of the Year coveted award. Many tears were shed as this team works towards this accomplishment year over year by being nominated every year since we began management in 2016.

Congratulations again, we are all so proud of you!
