MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY; CELEBRATING TOMMY SASSER

At Royal American, we are fortunate enough to have employees with tenure extending 20 years and beyond. Their knowledge and expertise are pivotal in the success and growth of our company all the while staying tied to the deep roots it was founded on. It is our honor to interview these amazing employees and hear their stories. We are excited to share with you.

This week’s milestone anniversary interview is with Tommy Sasser; Senior Vice President of Construction

What position did you start out in at Royal American?

Assistant Project Superintendent

Would you tell us a little bit about your career journey with Royal American?

I started with RAC as an assistant superintendent and advanced through superintendent, project manager, senior project manager and into my current position as Senior Vice President of Construction.

Can you share a favorite memory from your time with Royal American?

Every new project that we start has new elements of surprise and anticipation. No two projects are ever the same and construction is never boring. There have been lots of good times and many days that were not so pleasant when constructing the many projects over the years. You learn to keep the projects moving forward no matter what it takes, and you learn to reach out to different people for knowledge and resources. It is rewarding to look at a completed project and say, “That’s a nice-looking project and I was a part of constructing that”.

What are a few of your interests and hobbies outside of Royal American?

Outside of work I enjoy home time with my wife and family. We keep some type of gardening project going pretty much year-round. I like doing home improvement type things and never miss a reason to fire up the grill with family and friends.

What advice would you give to someone just getting started?

The main thing I would say to anyone that wants to get into construction is to be dependable and always do what you say you will do. Strive to be more and understand that experience leads to more knowledge. With that you will become more valuable. Don’t expect to be the boss of something until you understand how and what needs to be done.

Congratulations to Tommy Sasser; Senior Vice President of Construction, on his amazing 25 year career with RA. We invite you to help us celebrate his 20 years in the comments! Thank you for sharing with us Tommy.

It becomes lighter to know that the crazy days/moments stayed in your yesterday and now you can enjoy the finished work.
