City Vista’s Family Support Coordinator Helps Residents Access $36K in Emergency Rental Assistance
The coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult for many residents to generate income and pay their rent due to job loss. As City Vista’s Family Support Coordinator, Morgan Boyd, saw first-hand the financial difficulties residents were facing. Family Support Coordinators assist residents with accessing supportive services and navigating crisis issues. When Morgan saw the need her residents faced with paying their rent, it was her second-nature to step up to the challenge and provide assistance.
Morgan contacted The City of Pompano Beach’s Housing and Urban Development office and learned the application process and the necessary requirements residents needed to meet to apply for COVID-19 emergency funds. Residents were able to rely on Morgan for one-on-one assistance with understanding and completing their applications. Since September, Morgan has assisted 13 families with acquiring 2-4 months of rental assistance–totaling $36,000.
